School Age

Our School Age Program services children 5 years-12 years (Kindergarten- 7th Grade). The ratio for this age group is 1:12. Throughout the school year, we provide care both before and after school as well as school closing days. We are a bus stop for Hutchinson Elementary and have a charter bus for Hempfield Area Schools. TLC provides an afternoon snack, homework time, and fun activities each day after school. On days when school is closed, we provide a day full of fun activities for children. Summer Camp is a great experience for the children as well. The children will be taking field trips around the community each week and doing fun projects within the classroom. A lesson plan using the PA Learning Standards will be posted each week.

Mark: Mr. mark has worked with TLC since 2020, he has helped during online schooling for school age and helps with our before and after school program. He has a Bachelors degree from University of Pittsburgh as a Political Science major. He has retired from year of experience working in sales. he is married and has 4 grandchildren.

Steph: Miss Steph has been with TLC off and on since 2020 as one of our before and after school teachers. She has an associates degree from WCCC in Early Childhood Education , and a bachelors degree in specialized studies at Edinboro University, and a associates degree in developmental disabilities also from Edinboro university. She has many years of working with youth.

Emily: Emily has worked with TLC since 2021. She works in our before & after school age program as well as working with all ages in all classrooms. She graduated from University of Pittsburgh Greensburg Campus with her Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education. She recently got engaged.

New Year’s Day: Wednesday January 1; TLC will be closed.

Our family has been going to Today’s Learning Childcare since we moved to the area in late 2012. The teachers are great and you can tell that they truly enjoy their job.

We were a little worried about what we would do during the summers once our son started Kindergarten (there aren’t many summer camps in the area that are convenient for full- time working parents). Luck was on our side when TLC started a Summer Camp Program for school age children in 2016. To say our son LOVED the program would be an understatement. He couldn’t wait to go every day and talked about all the fun things they would do during the day. I think he appreciated the variety. They would take a field trip once a week and came home with cute little projects they worked on during the day. In fact, our daughter was in the Pre-K room during the time and told us that she couldn’t wait to go to the Summer Program when she was in Kindergarten. ~ Michelle Rennie
